Thermal Breaking
What is Thermal Breaking?
Used widely in aluminium window and door frames, thermal breaking is an innovative method of inserting a rigid polymer into the profile of the aluminium frame to provide a thermal barrier across the section.
Liquid polyurethane resin is poured into the bridged extrusion. When the resin has set, the bridge section is removed, leaving a solid block of insulating polymer between the two extrusions. The result is a highly effective thermal barrier that interrupts the temperature flow between the parent metal sections.
The process is ideal for use in energy conservation projects because of the savings in energy costs.
